Estate Planning
Leaving a Legacy
Your family legacy is more than a bank account and stock certificates. It encompasses all the experiences you accumulated during your lifetime. Estate planning helps to prioritize the hopes, fears, priorities, and motivations related to the passing of wealth, assets, and values between generations and possibly charities. It also is meant to provide a voice from beyond the grave to ensure that what you accumulated is divided with your planned intent and not left to squabbling children or heirs fighting over what they believe to be righfully theirs. If done properly, your estate can be protected from excess taxes and legal costs. There are ample reasons to put into place an estate plan but probably none more important than ensuring that the family you leave behind are not left fighting over what you left behind with themselves or with the government.
